1: First, a word of warning – Little Girl Lost is one of the many stags that has come down to us without its intended ending, which means we never do find out if the weeping damsel whose sorry plight opened the film ever finds her way home. Neither do we discover which of her gallant rescuers makes the biggest mess. But enough has survived to know that they at least tried.
The film opens gently; rescued from a park bench by two smartly attired Lotharios, the shyly pretty brunette is taken back to their flat, handed a mug of tea and an A-Z guide book, and she’d probably have gone on her way soon enough had one of her hosts not thought it incredibly funny to whip out his dick and pretend to fuck her ear. Of course she catches him in the act and, for a moment, she reels back in surprise. But then she reaches out to grasp him and, with all three of the cast doing their best to suppress their giggles (and not always succeeding), she delivers a bj to be proud of. Teeth and all.
Of course his friend soon requires one as well, so while he plugs her at one end, his buddy gets to work at the other, and all goes swimmingly until… the film cuts out, and we are left with so many unanswered questions that you’ll never tire of watching Little Girl Lost, even if it’s merely in the hope that it will magically repair itself….

2: One of the most memorable of all British stags, at least if you believe author Chrissie Bentley (see her story Pictures of Lily elsewhere on this blog) is 1960s British threesome The Nightspot, an exuberant 2m 1f threesome that peaks midway through when one of the male participants fails to warn his fellatrix of his imminent ejaculation. And what a surprise that turns out to be.
Nightspot opens with two young men entering what is clearly a classy nightclub, and inviting the buxom hostess to join them for drinks. Of course things rapidly progress from there and, at the suggestion of one of the visitors, they retire to a conveniently located bedroom. One of the men is inside her within moments of their clothes coming off; his buddy, however, is treated to a long and evidently exquisite blowjob… so exquisite that, though the camera seems more intrigued by the below the belt action, it’s up top where things are really cooking. And where he lets go without a word.
A portrait of grace and harmonic beauty beforehand, the hostess suddenly pauses for a split second, frozen in mid-movement. Her eyes bulge comically in surprise, and then she reels around as sperm cascades out of her mouth. Words are exchanged; she is clearly requesting some warning for next time. But she obviously doesn’t get it because, as the movie approaches its climax, an almost identical scene is played out with the other male lead, and the cameraman, at least, has learned his lesson. His lens has barely left her lips since the last time. And she’s okay as well – this time, she doesn’t complain in the slightest.

3: Tonight At 8 takes the title by which it’s best known not from its credits (of which there are none), but from an advertising hoarding on the streets of London’s Shaftsbury Avenue, announcing the opening time of a stageshow. The two guys and a girl who spent the first few minutes browsing around showland won’t be in the audience, though; they’re back at somebody’s apartment, with the pop music presumably cranked up full blast (the film is silent, so we’ll never know) and dancing in an increasingly suggestive manner with one another.
Had it been set to a Swinging Sixties soundtrack, the Swinging Blue Jeans maybe, or possibly the Yardbirds, Tonight At 8 could be an unseen out-take from Antonioni’s Blow-Up (which we would judiciously retitle Blow Job if it were); the boys are perfectly cast, young and enthusiastic, a little blundering (okay, a lot blundering), and the short-haired blonde object of their attentions might well feel more like a science project than the object of their lust, but she has a good time regardless. And that’s the appeal of the film, a candid reminder that all of us started out fumbling at first, and how fortunate we’d have been to have had such a patient teacher to guide us. The scene where she kneels to offer the two boys a blowjob, only to be foiled by their continued insistence on playing the dancing fools cracks everybody up and, while things do settle down eventually, it’s in the knowledge that further tomfoolery could break out any moment. A wonderfully human, innocent and enjoyable film, Tonight At 8 is the perfect antidote to the over-scripted choreography of the modern sex film.

4: The Schoolgirl’s Dream is one in a long line of stags that attempts to enter the mind of a sleeping woman, to discover that her dreams are just as wild as any guy’s. And the fact that the buxom heroine opens the movie in full school uniform, which she only slowly removes as she gets ready for bed only adds to the fantasy fulfilment.
The dream begins within a minute or so of her head touching the pillow; one moment shes alone in bed, the next there’s a naked man in there beside her. And then another, standing beside her bed with an elephant’s face drawn on his stomach – and no surprise what the trunk is.
It’s an oddly cut film, few of the scenes last as long as they should, as if the film maker wanted to cram as many different acts and positions into the allotted time as possible. But the cast are attractive and the moments where the camera does linger are certainly worth watching.

5: If schoolgirls constituted one of the major filmic obsessions of 1960s British porn, then au pairs would soon be following them. And The Lusty Au Pair gives you the reason why. Opening with a woman who is both lusty and busty arriving at the home of her latest employer, suitcase and scribbled directions in hand, and then depicting her as she goes about her daily duties, the tone only shifts when the man in the house is forced to squeeze past her in the narrow kitchenette, kneel to get the milk out of the fridge and, apparently, suddenly realize just what a vision he is sharing his house with.
To bed, then, and a very decorous disrobing scene; she has his underwear off some time before he removes hers; and he remains a gentleman too, as she kneels before him to take him in her mouth – and he apparently tells her no. By stag standards, it takes her an age to convince him that it’s not such a bad thing, but you can tell he has far more on his mind, and he finally gets his way, fucking her in a variety of positions before coming hard and then collapsing back, presumably for some well-earned rest. At which point the au pair can get back to what she wanted to do all along, bringing the movie to an end by sucking him back to life again.

It’s a time and place thing; the exercise craze that swept the country during the early 1980s brought a lot of new fascinations into play, but it was the ease with which it lent itself to porn that might be its greatest legacy. Few film makers operating around this time could resist slipping at least one girl into the requisite legwarmers, leotard and the like, and then contorting her alluringly across a piece of equipment, and “Pole Pumpers” is just one more in a long line of films where that is exactly what happens.
Concentrating on US productions, Volume 430 features the usual handful of period superstars to drive the action along – Jesse Adams, John Holmes, Lee Carroll, Tina and Jason Russell… and Cher ? Actually no, and there’s no indication anywhere in the film of that name to suggest why such a distinctive title was selected. Unless, of course, that was why – to keep you wondering throughout! In terms of real surprises, though, there’s a brief moment during “Hot Nurse” that will definitely catch the attention, as the titular medic taps her stethoscope to her patient’s erection before administering him his medicine. We never learn what she heard, but it certainly encouraged her to give it a closer examination.
There’s more mysterious promise to be found in “The Gypsy” – who, after all, could ever resist going to visit somebody who sells herself as a nude fortuneteller? She is nude, too, although the moment her palm has been crossed with silver (or, rather, green), she and her two clients are off to the bedroom, and the only crystal balls she’s interested in are the ones that aren’t actually made of crystal. Thank goodness, then, for John Holmes’ “Big Dick III’ which really does deliver what the title promises. One helluva big dick, and such a tiny mouth to wrap around it.

They seldom rate very highly in the annals of fetishwear, but there’s definitely something very refreshing about stripy legwarmers – which might be why the intriguingly titled “Arobasex” is so alluring. Well, it’s that, or it’s the radiant beauty of the woman who cuddles so lovingly up with young Tom Byron, when we know she should be doing her aerobics.
Either way, Volume 429 gets off to a flying start, and one which even the faintly dull, but definitely overdone exhibitionism of “Pam” cannot deflate. Not when there’s a “Sex Machine” around and, no, we’re not talking about James Brown. An elaborate construction of greased gears, thrusting pistons and a king-sized dildo, it’s an effective device but one can’t help noticing that it’s abandoned as soon as the real thing becomes available. And there’s definitely no shortage of that, both in this film and across the rest – the sex machine isn’t the only toy that gets quickly discarded, either, although if you’re looking for a common thread through this disc, it remains exotic undergarments. Everything from fishnets to corsets, and onto feather boas get a work out here, although those leg warmers still take a lot of beating.

An all-American extyravaganza, Volume 428 is literally overflowing with the biggest names of the period industry… John Holmes, Vanessa Del Rio, Marlene Willoughby, Merle Michaels and Jesse Adams all make well-appointed appearances throughout, together with a clutch of lesser-known (but still, occasionally, recognizable) co-stars – including one well-buffed body building type who somehow manages to continue with his exercises, even in the first throes of a blowjob.
Of course he doesn’t keep it up for long – or, rather, he does, which is why he eventually surrenders his barbells and works some other muscles instead. But his attention does keep wandering back to those darn weights, a preoccupation that makes this an oddball film to be sure.
Of course, you usually know where you are with American films of this era – they go for the jugular from the outset, so there’s no wasted dimes while you’re waiting for things to kick off. Sometimes, in fact, you’re even left wondering what you are missing; “Twirler,” for example, doesn’t only start in mid fuck’n’suck, part two alone is included here. What else took place beneath the smiling eyes of that John Travolta poster? What other indiginties were the stuffed animals subjected to? And, purely out of interest, just how comfortable can it be, fucking through the holes in a hammock? (“In The Swing”).
With so many assured performers and performances on display, Volume 428 may have been a late arrival in the series (it was released in 2005), but it’s certainly one of the most in-demand. And a few moments with Merle Michaels, Eric Edwards and “Slippery” will tell you why.

Another of those collections drawn from the ranks of the most basic 70s loops, Volume 425 is probably best summed up by one title alone, “Just Good Sex.” Divided equally between straightforward one on ones, and more crowded set ups, the collection begins with a girl rewarding her man for buying her a new dress by giving him a blowjob (we never do find out if the dress fit well) ; follows on with a foursome that is oral almost all the way… and, throughout its two hour running time, there really isn’t a moment wasted, not even while the participants change positions.
For collectors, an early Marlene Willoughby loop, “Four For All”; John Seeman’s super-sensual “Secret Rendezvous”; and Bridget Maier’s “Erotic Dreamer” are the big ticket items here, the latter framed by the sleeping stud’s masturbatory fantasies and revolving around some stupendous blowjob sequences. “Hay Ride” also employs a sleeping protagonist to get things moving, and again there’s the “surprise” revelation that it was all just a dream. But if the set-ups are strictly damp squibs in terms of imagination, the sex is dynamite regardless.

We’ve mentioned the sheer uselessness (some might say “compliance”) of the male stars of 70s hardcore in the past, but if there was ever an example of simply lying back and taking everything, it’s the hero of “Arse Fucking” – a lad so lazy that, even with two women working away on him, it’s all he can do to remove the glasses from one of them. Interactive, he isn’t, although he probably has no need to be. His partners know exactly what they want, and they take it.
Volume 397 is a real mixed bag. In terms of sheer variety, “Cabaret Tabu” takes a lot of beating, a six on six revue show that follows the familiar routine of matching onstage activity to offstage shenanigans, but which also features a great looking cast, and an amusing unveiling in the final few minutes. Anybody who prides their powers of long-distance cumshots, by the way, could probably take lessons from this one.
Into more intimate territory, “Savoury Shave” takes place in a classy hair salon and is, at least at first, concerned with – of course! – shaving. That done, things can move on to a very jolly fivesome – and later in the disc, “Shaved Girls” takes another look at the joys of deplilidation, albeit with a much smaller cast.
A luxurious titty fuck highlights “Love Calls,” and just about everything goes in “The Schoolgirls,” a five girl, one guy set up that makes a game of Twister look uncomplicated. The classroom backdrop, by the way, is the only justification for the film’s title, although the male lead was certainly well cast. He really does look like a math teacher.

A dozen Euroflicks open with one of the most unequivocally titled films in the canon, and a male cast that is devoted to justifying it, by sampling their ladies’ newly shaven wares from as many different angles as they can. In fact, that seems to be the gist of this entire collection, just one acrobatic display after another – at least until we reach “Tired Man – Extremely Wives,” in which a shagged out hubby leaves his wife still hot to trot (it’s rare to see any porn star point to his shrivelled dick and admit it needs a rest!), so she calls a girlfriend and carries on with her. Later, “Anal Akrobaten” affects a neat cock and dildo DP, while “The Orgy” is just that, leaping into an already well-advanced six way fuckfest from both the cameraman’s POV and those of a couple of smartly dressed photographers.
The absence of any kind of thematic framing devices place the films here fairly low on the creative totem – most of them open with the action already underway, usually a blowjob but occasionally something different (“Schoolgirl Education” gets going with a spanking) and close with a cumshot or two. It’s hardcore at its most basic, the kind of films that kept the customers coming back in the days when every minute cost another coin. Revisited on DVD, they retain all that old urgency.

“The Sadists” is one of those movies that possibly promises a lot more than it delivers, starting out as a casual three-in-the-bed and only slowly revealing its female protagonists to have a bit more on their mind than some straightforward rumpy-pumpy. For a start, their male host really doesn’t seem keen to be undressed, and he’s even less happy once the ropes come out – so unhappy that he needs a thrashing even before he’s tied up, and then another one to teach him for struggling so much.
There is some very awkward pulling and pushing going on, and maybe some other stuff as well – unfortunately, the cameraman is now so fascinated by the back view of the crouching women that it’s a while before we get to see exactly what they’re doing to their victim. And a blowjob really doesn’t seem that sadistic. Neither does anything else that happens here, which means “The Sadists” does fizzle out some as it heads towards its conclusion.
“Sexy Cooking,” on the other hand, never lets up (although we don’t really find out what the cooking has to do with anything); and as for “A Day At The Zoo”… don’t worry, the animals stay safe and sound behind bars, and the movie’s stars don’t linger for long there, either. Instead, it’s back to the flat for some animalism of their own, and if it wasn’t for the occasional, and almost subliminal flashes of genuine wildlife that flicker into view, you’d think nothing more of it. As it is, well… you’ve been warned. And there’s more amusement park fun to be had, as “Randy Girls” takes us out to a fairground to watch a couple of young men try their luck with the ladies. They’re fast workers, too.
“Table For Three” serves up yet another variation on the familiar tale of a butler getting more than he bargained for; in this case, being instructed by his employer to give m’lady a damned good rodgering, while her aged husband looks on. She, of course, needs no prompting, the butler’s at least half the old man’s age, but hubby isn’t completely neglected. There’s a blowjob and a cumshot waiting at the end.
Finally, “Girl Guides’ Misfortune” isn’t kidding with its title, opening with two of the lasses making their way to a stranger’s house, after one of them hurts her leg. And how charming it was of their Samaritan, to lay her down in his bedroom, because – whaddyaknow? By the time he’s got her panties down and his cock down her throat, she’s completely forgotten about her injury. She’s forgotten about her friend as well, but that’s another story….

Another random selection of 1970s European loops, Volume 331 opens with a slice of classic Britporn, in the shape of Climax’s “Hippy Sex” – a joyous flicker of grainy sepia that sets out its store by opening with a dope deal, before plunging its cast, two girls and a guy, into a rambunctious slice of S&M, all taking place beneath the watchful gaze of a poster for the Pretty Things’ “Savage Eye” LP.
Like so many UK productions of the time, the emphasis here is on the quality of the acts, not the quantity; individual scenes are lingered over with loving care, and there’s no crafty cutting between different shoots either – the guy comes once and the girls are off, quickly followed by the cameraman, a lack of guile that might disappoint cumshot connoisseurs, but certainly lends fresh realism to the film itself.
Lasse Braun’s “Ulla The Swede,” a highlight of Volume 269, reappears here in somewhat better quality than before, and it remains a masterpiece. But the twelve-body “Café Fucking” at least impresses via its choreography, first via the circle of fuckers and suckers that the participants form, then through the balletic precision of the cumshot finale. And “Salvation Orgy,” in which a charitable band finds something very unexpected in their collection box, wins a prize not only for originality, but also for costuming. But it’s with the MILF-boffing “Teacher’s Pet” that Volume 331 reminds us that nothing is new in the world of hardcore… and that includes the starlets, as “Grandmother’s Lust” then hauls out a female lead who was literally somebody’s granny even then… if not their great grandmother.
“Grandmother’s Lust” opens with a smartly dressed young man accidentally spilling a drink on his pants while visiting a sweet, white-haired old lady. Dabbing up the spillage, she doesn’t seem at all surprised to find him raring to go and, while the sight of her naked body comes as something of a shock after all the young lovelies disporting themselves elsewhere, there’s no denying that she knows her stuff. The question is, whose granny was she and, even more intriguingly, where did they find her? The notion that she was a survivor from some earlier era of porn film-making is definitely an alluring one, and she certainly has a lot of the moves down. But you can bet that (and this!) was an adventure she never shared with the grandkids.
